From time to time in our Monday evening circle we talk about Energy Vibration Levels and Levels of Consciousness. A favorite metaphor of Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan, a teacher of meditation and of the Sufi tradition was: Consciousness rides on energy… Consciousness is supported like a ball that floats on a fountain of energy. In his book, Power vs Force, David Hawkins talks about enlightenment as being at the highest vibrational level of energy and shame being at the lowest. More recently, in her TED Talk, Listening To Shame, Brene Brown notes that Shame is an unspoken epidemic, and is the secret behind many forms of broken behavior. And then finally, in his book, Healing the Shame that Binds You, John Bradshaw refers to the tragedy of toxic shame often picked up as a child.
Food for thought: Considering the metaphor, consciousness rides on energy, how do we raise our level of energy and give way to a higher level of consciousness? How do we move away from situations that are keeping our energy level low and are no longer serving us? How do we have compassion for ourselves and others as we view life from different frames of reference?
