“Many Times”
Many times, I placated myself,
From a heart that wants to live.
Many times, I turned away,
Myself, I wouldn’t forgive.
Many times, I’ve played it safe,
Hiding from the light.
Many time’s, I refused to listen,
To see with inner sight.
Many times, I chose fear,
Suffering became my norm.
Many times, the unconsciousness,
Produced a violent storm.
Many times, I cried alone,
Isolated in my sorrow.
Many times, I have prayed,
To have no more tomorrow.
Many times, I’ve gotten up,
Brushed off the guilt and shame.
Many times, I’ve broken my heart,
“ I Am” is still my name.
